How Do We Design The Structure of Flat Die Pellet Mill?
Feed Port
From the following picture we can see, the feed port of our granulator is on the left side of the control box. The whole is round, and the opening on the top is large, which is convenient for feeding. The material of the feeding port is stainless steel to prevent the material from corroding and sticking to the wall. The material enters the granulating device vertically for the next step of granulation.
Granulating Device
Flat die extrusion granulator belongs to dry extrusion granulation. It mainly consists of rollers and molds. The mold gap can be large or small. It can produce columnar particles with a diameter of 2-8 mm. The roller is an important part of the granulating part. Since some raw materials such as sawdust, straw, etc. require a lot of pressure for extrusion. So our rollers are made of special materials, which are pressure-resistant and wear-resistant. You can choose the different mold shapes according to your needs, generally cylindrical. You can also adjust the length of the columnar particles.
Discharge Port
The discharge port is below the granulation part and is square. There is a stainless steel tray connection outside, which is convenient for receiving materials.
Gear Box
The working principle of the flat die granulator is to drive the belt and pulley through the motor, transmit it to the driving shaft through the reducer, and open the gear and the driven shaft to work synchronously.
The Wheel

Control Box

How Does The Flat Die Pellet Mill Process The Fertilizer?
First of all, in the driving part, the main motor drives the belt and pulley, and drives the drive shaft to work through the reducer. The split gears installed on the driving shaft are engaged with the large gear ring fixed on the body to do opposite work. Second, you need to add the material from the feed port. The material enters the granulation part due to its own gravity. Then in the granulation process, the granules are formed by the extrusion of the pressing roller and the mold. Finally, it flows out through the discharge port. Due to the continuous entry of materials and the continuous rotation of the granulator, it can be achieve mass production.
In design, our flat die granulator uses two-stage transmission of belt and worm gear, which is stable in rotation and low in noise. Feeding relies on the material’s own gravity to fall to avoid clogging. The rotational speed of the main shaft is about 60 rpm, and the linear speed of the pressing roller is about 2.5 m/s. It can effectively remove the gas in the material and increase the tightness of the product. Due to the lower line speed, the noise generated during operation and the wear of components are reduced at the same time. The roller bearings are permanently lubricated and specially sealed. On the one hand, this design can prevent the lubricant from contaminating the material during the granulation process. On the other hand, it can reduce the loss of lubricant.

How To Adjust The Flat Die Granulator?
Adjustment of Roller Gap
During the production process, it is sometimes necessary to increase the output. At this time, you can increase the spacing between the two axes. you can also increase the spacing between the drive shaft roller and the driven shaft. The steps are as follows: stop the machine, remove the frame on the two bearing seats, and adjust the adjustment plate between the two bearing seats to the desired thickness. There should be no collision between the two rollers, at least between 0.3-1 mm.
Ball and Socket Alignment
The adjustment ball socket is composed of dimples on the surface of the main roller, and there are problems of axial alignment and circumferential alignment.
Axial Alignment
Adjusted during installation. Generally speaking, adjustment is unlikely. When need adjustment, tighten or loosen the glands on both sides of the passive bearing seat to facilitate the displacement of the eccentric sleeve to correspond to the drive shaft roller.
Axial Alignment Steps
Loosen the 6 connecting bolts of the driven gear and the adjusting sleeve, and gently disassemble the adjusting sleeve and the driven gear. Since the design takes into account the adjustment of the ball and socket, and is equipped with two adjustment bolts, the misalignment can be adjusted no matter how much. Since the ball socket is too small, put the carton board between the two rollers when adjusting, and you can see whether the adjustment has achieved the goal after rolling. When correct, you can tighten 8 connecting bolts.
How to Maintain Your Flat Die Pellet Mill?
- You should apply butter on the gears before starting.
- You should butter the chain and sprocket every 7 days. Replace the butter with a new one every three months.
- You should add gear oil before and after the reducer is in use, and change the gear oil every four months.

Things You Should Know When You Using Our Flat Die Pellet Mill
- First, when installing, install the granulator smoothly. Adjust the tightness of the belt, check whether the steering is normal, and whether the screws in various parts are loose.
- When using, you should note that there should be no hard objects such as stones and iron blocks in the raw materials, otherwise it will damage the pressing roller and the template.
- After working for more than 10 shifts (8 hours per shift), the rollers should be disassembled. You should add the high temperature resistant oil to the bearings to prolong the service life of the bearings.
- During granulation, it is strictly forbidden for the roller to idling contact with the template.
- There is no granulation and no discharge during granulation, you should remove the template to clean the holes.
- Frequently check the oil level and oil leakage of the gearbox. Change gear oil every 720 hours.
- If there are more refined fibers, you should add about 5% of the water when you process the material. If there are more refined fibers in the mixed material, the amount of water added can be reduced as appropriate, and the water will be exerted during the extrusion process.
